In 2015, many of us convened in informal groups to reflect on our vision for society. We evolved the “Artivist Ashram”, a 6-day, 100-hour gathering in an intimate space with 10-12 people. This was a way of building the field and creating shared understanding. We have convened 8 such gatherings in the last 11 years.

Building on the energy of these threads, in early October 2022, we gathered in Mumbai to initiate and co-create a socio-political action plan through which we can serve the larger systemic change needed in the Indian context.

Conversations led us to realise that a relational field is a social infrastructure required to sense and respond to the times and a space where new solutions can be scaled organically. We initiated “2069” as a youth festival with a 50-year vision to walk and act together. The festival was held in 2019 and 2020 and went on a pause during COVID. Each event had 100 leaders from around the country.

Together, the Stewards and Gardeners are the anchors of our ecosystem, connecting individuals and organisations, weaving the weavers (leaders of communities, collectives, and organisations) and enabling the flow of resources, ideas and coordinated actions at an ecosystem level.
Our approach begins by bringing together a diverse group of players. But to truly tap into collective intelligence, we need the right conditions, both inner and outer, that foster deep trust and collaboration, even in tough times.
That’s why a core part of our work focuses on building an infrastructure of care across the ecosystem.
